Eaton Fire Recovery

Eaton Fire Restoration Painting Services

The January 2025 Eaton Fire devastated communities across Altadena, Pasadena, and the San Gabriel foothills. As a local, family-owned painting company based in Sierra Madre, we are committed to helping our neighbors rebuild and restore their homes and businesses.

About the Eaton Fire

On January 7, 2025, the Eaton Fire ignited in Eaton Canyon in the San Gabriel Mountains. Driven by powerful Santa Ana winds, the fire swept through foothill communities including Altadena, portions of Pasadena, and surrounding neighborhoods. Over 14,000 acres burned and more than 9,000 structures were destroyed or damaged, making it the second most destructive wildfire in California history.

As a Sierra Madre business that has served these communities for over 40 years, the Eaton Fire hit close to home. Many of our past clients, neighbors, and friends were directly impacted. We are here to help with the recovery process, starting with what we do best: painting and surface restoration.

How We Help With Fire Recovery

Smoke Damage Painting

Smoke stains penetrate deep into walls and ceilings. We use specialized primers and sealants that block smoke odor and discoloration before applying fresh paint to fully restore interior surfaces.

Exterior Restoration

Heat and smoke exposure degrade exterior paint and finishes. We assess the damage, properly prep all surfaces including soot removal and sanding, then apply durable exterior coatings built to protect.

Odor Sealing

Smoke odor lingers long after visible damage is addressed. We apply specialized encapsulating primers like Zinsser BIN and Kilz that permanently seal smoke odor into surfaces before repainting.

Water Damage Repair

Firefighting efforts and rain after the fire can cause water damage to walls and ceilings. We repair water-stained drywall, apply mold-inhibiting primers, and repaint to restore affected areas.

New Construction Painting

For homes being rebuilt from the ground up, we provide complete interior and exterior painting for new construction. We work alongside general contractors to deliver on schedule.

Insurance Documentation

We provide detailed written estimates and documentation of damage and restoration work to support your insurance claims. Our estimates are thorough, transparent, and designed to help your claim process go smoothly.

Serving Fire-Affected Communities

The Eaton Fire primarily impacted Altadena and portions of Pasadena, but smoke and ash damage extended across a wide area of the San Gabriel Valley. We are providing restoration painting services to all affected communities.

Eaton Fire Restoration FAQs

Can you paint over smoke-damaged walls?
Yes, but it requires proper preparation. Smoke residue must be cleaned, then a specialized shellac-based or encapsulating primer is applied to seal the stain and odor before any paint goes on. Simply painting over smoke damage without proper priming will result in bleed-through and lingering odor.
Will my insurance cover painting after fire damage?
In most cases, yes. Homeowner's insurance policies typically cover painting as part of fire and smoke damage restoration. We provide detailed estimates and documentation specifically formatted to support insurance claims. We recommend contacting your adjuster before starting work.
How soon after a fire can painting begin?
Painting can begin once the structure is deemed safe, debris is cleared, and any necessary structural repairs are completed. For smoke-only damage, painting can often begin within weeks. For rebuilt structures, we coordinate with your general contractor on the construction timeline.
Do you work with general contractors on rebuilds?
Yes. We regularly work alongside general contractors on new construction and renovation projects. We can join your rebuild team at the appropriate stage and coordinate scheduling to keep the project on track.
